    • Seen on Scene - Marceline Chamber Banquet

    • On Tuesday, the annual Marceline Chamber of Commerce Dinner was held at the Monnig Café. A buffet style dinner of fish, chicken, ham, and numerous side dishes and desserts were served. Chamber President Albert Yocom then highlighted some of the events, activities and accomplishments the Chamber was involved with during the past year: MAD Dollars, the Chamber website and Facebook page, local tourism, Missouri Highway 36 Heritage Alliance, Christmas lighting in Ripley Park, the Adopt A Buddy Program, Toonfest, the Downtown Halloween Event, Peanut Night, Senior Mailbox Program, Redneck Games participation, the Circus sponsorship, and the Wine and Arts Stroll. Yocom discussed making improvements and additions to some of those events. He announced that this is Marceline’s 125th anniversary so there will be upcoming events honoring that milestone. There is even a book in progress featuring local history. Each of the local business persons in attendance then stood up, introduced themselves and any guests with them, and told a brief history of their association to Marceline. Chamber Secretary Chris Ankeney discussed the revitalization of downtown Marceline and some information was distributed about The Missouri Main Street Program (a program offering grants and services to competitively selected communities). The highlight of the evening was a video presentation featuring clips from the activities surrounding the 1998 Disney premiere of “The Spirit of Mickey” at the Uptown Theater.
