Ivan LeRoy Baker, 83, Lee’s Summit, died Monday, Aug. 6, 2012, at his home.
Funeral services will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the Ivan Baker Memorial Fund, payable to Mary Ann Baker, C/O Excel Bank, P.O. Box 328, Lee’s Summit, Mo. 64063, or VFW Post 5789, 329 SE Douglas, Lee’s Summit, Mo. 64063.
Mr. Baker was born December 18, 1928, in Bucklin, son of Roy and Ruby Baker.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War. He worked road construction for Broce and Smith, Peter Kiewit, Clarkson, Robin and Suburban Asphalt and W.A. Ellis Construction Companies. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 5789.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann; two daughters and a son-in-law, Diana and Carlos Morales and Brenda Castle; grandchildren, Cariana and Annalysa Morales, Breanne, Brett, Brendon and Brecca Castle; two sisters-in-law, Betty and husband, Delbert Stephens, and Donna and husband, Steve Stratman; two brothers-in-law, Ben and Jackie Bock and Ronnie and Sandy Bock; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Warren Davis and Irvin Baker; sisters, Erma Summerfield, Jean Foltz and Edna Merle Preston; nephews, Gerald, Wayne and Charles Summerfield; sister-in-law, Mabel Davis; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Frank and Alma Bock; and a niece, Lisa Stratman.
