  • The Brookfield Lady Dogs softball team has had a rough week at home this week, losing a pair of games against some tough competition.  The Lady Dogs hosted Trenton in a battle of Bulldogs on Tuesday, and Clarence Cannon Conference rival Centralia last night.
The varsity contest started off with Centralia sending four to the plate, scoring none, and Sammi Overton racking up one strikeout.  The Lady Dogs went down in order in the bottom of the frame to leave the game scoreless after one inning.
Centralia got on the board in the top of the second, scoring one run in four at-bats.  Brookfield again was retired in order, and trailed 1-0 after two innings.
Centralia went down in order in the third inning.  Parks slapped a single to end the Lady Dogs offensive drought, but would be stranded.  After three innings, Brookfield trailed 1-0.
Centralia sent eight to the plate in the fourth, and scored four runs.  A pair of errors would prove to be costly for Brookfield.  Natalie Wheeler hit a single in the home half of the inning, but was stranded.  After four innings, the Lady Dogs trailed 5-0.
