Mr. Elba Earl Britton, 92, died Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, at the Sonny Montgomery Veterans Hospital, Jackson, MS.
Visitation was from 1-2 p.m. today, Oct. 8, 2012, at Natchez Trace Funeral Home with a chapel service at 2 p.m. Burial was in Natchez Trace Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Britton was a native of Browning, was the son of the late Carlos Minor and Bertha Blanch (Martin) Britton.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars or Bible Believers 9835 Hwy 49 Yazoo City, MS. 39194.
Mr. Britton served his country during World War II with the 407th Combat Engineer Battalion of the United States Army. After the war, he continued to serve his country by working for various contractors for the United States government, which included Westinghouse Steam Turbines (1953-1959), Atlas Missiles (1959-1960), Vandenberg AFB (California 1961-1963), General Dynamics (Fort Woth, TX and Virginia1963-1970) and Bechtel (Mechanical/Nuclear Engineer 1979-1983).He also was an Instructor at Uitca Junior College (1970-1979).
Survivors include his children, Virginia Therese Britton, Jewel Pauline Britton and Nathan Carlos Britton; grandchildren, Von Edwards and Ken Allen; great-grandchildren, Angel Brookleigh Edwards, Von Ray “Buddy” Edwards, Summer Skye Allen, Connor James “Jack” Allen and Britton Von Allen; sister, Reva Fannie Crawford and husband, Richard; and brother, Keith Lane Britton and his wife, Irma.
Mr. Britton was preceded in death by his wife, Arzelda McDaneld Britton; and three infant children, Joel Earl, Winnie Earline and JerriMark Britton.
