  • The Marceline Tigers have to rematch with a Lewis and Clark Conference rival for the second time in the MSHSAA playoffs tonight. After a blowout win against Slater at Chester Ray Stadium, the Tigers must now leave the Friendly Confines for a road game against Salisbury.
The last time these teams faced off, Salisbury pulled out a 14-7 win, despite a Black Rage lead for three quarters. But, the teams are both different squads now.
“At this time, we are on a five game winning streak,” said Head Coach Paul Thomas. “Our kids are playing very well. I am sure Salisbury feels the same thing because they have their quarterback back and are at full strength. Coach Stott does a good job with the team, and it should be an exciting game for both teams.”
The return of All-Conference and All-District quarterback Austin Francis from an off-season injury sparked the already potent Panthers offense.
“Austin Francis is a great kid and a great athlete,” said Coach Thomas. “It's going to help their team a lot to have him back. We can't take anything away from the Wyatt kid, though, its a tough situation. He won six in a row for them, and is now at a different position. Having Francis back gives them some more confidence, but our kids should be full of confidence as well.”
The game kicks off in Salisbury at 7 p.m. tonight.
