After a big home win at historic Burlington Field last Friday in the opening round of the District Football Tournament, the Brookfield Bulldogs now travel to St. Joesph tonight for a battle with the Bishop LeBlond Eagles. While LeBlond may not have a great record, their Conference and schedule are filled with Class Three and Class Four football teams.
“We really don't know a lot about them at this point,” said Head Coach Nile Thudium after last Friday's win. “They like to run out of the gun a lot and use a lot of zone read.”
A couple of star players are of concern to the Dogs. “They have a good quarterback, and their running back may be the best we have seen all year long,” said Coach Thudium. “We will have to be very well prepared defensively for what they want to do on offense.”
Defensively, at least on Friday, the Eagles were enjoying the benefit of surprise. “We think they will be in a 4-3 Cover Two,” said Coach Thudium. “But we are not sure how they will adjust to our fly sweep motion.”
The game kicks off in St. Joseph at 7 p.m. tonight in this one-and-done playoff format.
