Charles King, age 88, of Brookfield, died Saturday, November 10, 2012, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City.
A funeral service will be Wednesday, November 14, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Wright-Baker-Hill Funeral Home, Brookfield with Pastor Mike White officiating. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery in Brookfield. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 in the evening.

Charles Edward, son of Gird and Josephine (Groetecke) King, was born February 10, 1924, in Brookfield. In 1946, he married Rosalie McCollum.
Charles had worked in the retail grocery business for many years and retired as the manager of Esry’s IGA in Brookfield in 1987.
He was a US Army Veteran of World War II serving in the European Theater. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Brookfield and General Black Jack Pershing Memorial Post 4557 in Brookfield.
Survivors include his wife, Rosalie of the home; one son, Clark King and wife, Connie of Overland Park, Kansas; two grandsons, Andy King and wife, Lea of Basehop, Kansas and Scott King and wife, Kelly of Lee’s Summitt; one step grandson, David Stomp of San Francisco, California; one step granddaughter, Kristin Banker and husband, Andy of Overland Park, Kansas; three great-grandsons, Charley King, Reece King, and Brinton Banker; one great-granddaughter, Bentley Banker; three brothers, G.L. King and wife, Nola of Macon, and Dick King and wife, Joann and Jim King and wife, Sherry all of Brookfield; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Nancy Sprague.
