Clysta Jones, age 61, of Brookfield, died Friday, November 9, 2012, at Life Care Center in Brookfield.
The family has arranged for a gathering with cookies and ice cream at Trinity Fellowship Center in Brookfield at 6:00 in the evening on Tuesday, November 13, 2012, followed by a service to be held at 7:00 also in the Fellowship Center.
Contributions in memory of Clysta maybe given to the Food Pantry, Petska Cancer Fund, or Brookfield YMCA and can be mailed to the family or Wright-Baker-Hill Funeral Home, PO Box 496, Brookfield, MO 64628.
Clysta Louise, daughter of Clifford and Verla (Maurer) Maxfield, was born February 21, 1951, in Marshalltown, Iowa. On July 28, 1974, she married Barrett Q. Jones.
Clysta graduated from Truman State University in Kirksville with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education and later received a Master’s Degree. She taught math in the Brookfield R-3 Middle School for many until her retirement.
She was an active member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Brookfield where she sang in the Chancel Choir, planned and served the Trinity Thanksgiving Dinner, and several other church organizations. She was a member of Missouri State Teachers Association, Missouri Retired Teachers, Linn County Retired Teachers, Kaleidoscope Players, and the Brookfield YMCA.
Survivors include her husband, Barrett of the home; two sons, Adam Q. Jones of Kansas City and Gavin W. Jones of Overland Park, Kansas; two sisters, Lois M. Law of Waycross, Georgia and Carol Tressler and husband, Mark of Caska, Minnesota; one brother, Lee Maxfield and wife, Rev. Cheryl of Fayetteville, Georgia; one sister-in-law, Janevra Spero of Kansas City; her mother-in-law, Kathleen McVeigh and husband, Joe of Memphis; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives; and friend, Leola Pascal of Brookfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents and father-in-law, Quentin M. Jones.
