Gary Smith, 68, Laclede, died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, at Wright-Baker-Hill Funeral Home, Brookfield, with Rev. Richard Casady officiating. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, at the funeral home with the family receiving friends from 6-8 that evening. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery, Brookfield.
Gary Gene was born February 6, 1944, in Brookfield, son of Earl and Mary (Crowley) Smith. On November 10, 1967, he married Sandra Kay Epperly.
Gary had been a driver for Churchill Truck Lines and later was a correctional officer at the Missouri State Correctional Center, Chillicothe. He was a US Army veteran serving in Germany. He was a member of Laclede American Legion, Linn County Tractor Club, and the National Rifle Association.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra, of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Rob Corf, Hale, and Debbie and Chris Shiflett, Meadville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Leonora Smith, and Shawn and Becky Smith, Laclede; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Betty Stinson, Brookfield, Shirley and John Overton, Laclede, and Sue and Henry Vandevender, Tindall; 11 grandchildren, Krissy, Jessie and Cheyenne Thompson, Shelby and April Shiflett, Brett, Tyler and Drak Smith, and Kasarah, Andrew and Faith Smith; and one great-grandson, Brenden Thompson.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
