  • The Marceline High School basketball program traveled to Salisbury for a Lewis and Clark Conference battle with the Panthers and Lady Panthers.  These games, on Tuesday night, came out against the local team.
The Lady Tigers lost to the Lady Panthers 55-40.  Abby Gauthier had six points, one board, five assists and two steals.  Molly Shoop had two points, three boards, two assists and one steal.  Sydnee Brooks had three boards and a steal.  Natalie Allen had an assist.  Morgan McCormick had five points, eight boards and three steals.  Kendra Gladbach had 14 points, four boards, three assists and six steals.  Kelsey Gardner had one board and one steal.  Madison McCormick had 13 points, five boards, two assists and one steal.
“This was a completely sloppy offensive outing,” said Head Coach Kent O’Laughlin.  “We had way too many unexcusable turnovers.  Also, our lack of focus shooting caused us to miss entirely too many easy shots around the basket.”
Coach O’Laughlin continued:  “Defensively, we forced Salisbury into a lot of  turnovers.  But those never turned into shots and points.  We must clean up our offensive play to compete on a consistent basis.”
The Tigers lost to the Panthers 76-37.  Daniel Haas had six points.  Blake Linebaugh had eight points, two boards and one assist.  Frankie Herring had two points, two boards and an assist.  Chase Hilsabeck had nine points, one board, two assists and three steals.  Daniel Corbin had two boards, one assist and a steal.  Brett McGlothlin had 12 points, seven boards and three assists.  Shane Weimer had two steals.
“We were out-manned by the size of Salisbury,” said Coach O’Laughlin.  “We were dominated on the boards and their length created great difficulty for us offensively.  They are a very good team with superior scorers and size at all five positions on the floor.h
