  • Girl Scout Cookie time is here! Girl Scouts in our area will begin selling cookies on Saturday, January 12th.  There is a new cookie this year: Mango Cremes.  Returning favorites are: Thin Mints, Peanut Butter Patties, Peanut Butter Sandwich, Caramel Delites, Shortbread, Lemonades, and Thanks-A-Lot.  The cookies sell for $3.50 per box and will be delivered in March. The proceeds of the cookie sales are divided as follows: 16% remains with the local troop as profit to be used on troop activities, badges, trips, and any other expenses the troop has in order to operate; 54% goes to programs for girls, activity scholarships, training for adult volunteers, and maintenance of local Girl Scout camps; 30% is the cost of the cookies and the rewards the girls earn for selling the cookies.  Through the Girl Scout Cookie Program, girls learn five skills essential to leadership: goal setting, decision making, money management, business ethics, and people skills.  If you would like to place an order and do not know a local Girl Scout, you may call Ann Banks at 660-591-3424 or Cheri York at 660-258-2679. Pictured above is Daisy Troop 9240, and they are ready to sell cookies: front row: Mya, Sarah, Madison; back row: Ireland, Rebecca, Courtney, Isabelle.
