The Meadville Invitational Basketball Tournament is going on all week at the gym in Meadville. The event features three local and one area team. These teams started off in the first round on Monday and Tuesday nights.
The Linn County Mustangs toppled Grundy County 58-31. Derek Wilson scored three points, Josh Allen had 11, Anthony McCollum had eight, Ty Stillwell had 16, Aaron Spainhour had two, Logan Brinkley had four, Tristen Creason had eight, and Bryar Bookout had six.
Night two started with the Meadville Lady Eagles playing against Tina-Avalon in a rematch from Friday night's CLAA bout (see elsewhere in today's LCL).
The Lady Eagles struggled early on, and trailed until there was less than 30 seconds left in the first half. But, after taking the lead, the Meadville girls did not look back, winning the game by a final score of 32-25.
The next game featured the Bucklin/Macon County Co-op taking on Tina-Avalon. The Raiders took the lead early, despite some missed shots on the offensive end of the floor.
The BMC defense was led by Alex Porter, who held his own private block party under the basket for most of the night. In the end, the Raiders won this game by a final score of 37-28.
