  • The Brookfield High School basketball teams had a special series of games on Friday night at the BHS gym. The Dogs and Lady Dogs celebrated Courtmat, and also welcomed back the two most successful basketball teams in Brookfield history.
I’m the girls game, Alesa Frey scored nine of the first 11 points of the game for Brookfield, and helped the Lady Dogs open up a sizable lead early on. But, the Lady Cougars battled back with a late run. A buzzer-beater by Rebeca Kearns left the Lady Dogs with a 13-8 lead after one quarter.
Highland struck first in the second frame, and held Brookfield scoreless for just over the first two minutes of the frame. The drought ended with a basket from Courtmat Queen Miranda White. Kearns and Sassie Matzen would add bucket of their own to lengthen out the Brookfield lead. At the half, the Lady Dogs led 29-17.
