  • The Marceline Tigers hosted the Fayette Falcons last night at Tiger Fieldhouse for a Lewis and Clark Conference rematch from earlier in the season. The Lady Tigers teams swept the JV and Varsity games, while the Tigers lost in the nightcap in an exciting contest.
In the JV girls game, the Lady Tigers won 27-22. Tori Davis had five points, Claire Dorrell had six, Amelia Robinson had six, Natalie Allen had four, and Haili Teeter had six.
In the varsity girls game, the teams scored back and forth after Madison McCormick found Kendra Gladbach for the opening hoop. After a sloppy opening frame, the Lady Tigers led 17-14.
Fayette scored first in the second quarter to draw within one, but a putback by Morgan McCormick would answer for Marceline. The Lady Tigers would buckle down in this frame, and a bucket by Abby Gauthier just over midway through the quarter would give Marceline a double-digit lead. At the half, the Lady Tigers led 31-19.
In the boys game, the Tigers started scoring with a Brett McGlothlin hoop just under a minute in. Fayette responded with the first of their many three-pointers in the opening frame. The teams would go back and forth all through the opening frame, and Marceline trailed 15-14 after the first quarter.
A basket by Brennen Floray just under 30 seconds into the second quarter got things started for the Tigers. Marceline would take the lead again at the 5:35 mark by six points off of a basket by Chase Hilsabeck. Fayette battled back again, though, and the game would be tied 31-31 at halftime.
