Pat Swift, 57, Brookfield, died Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at Pershing Memorial Hospital, Brookfield.
Funeral services were held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at Wright-Baker-Hill Funeral Home, Brookfield. The family will receive friends following the service.
There was a student “Fond Farewell” Thursday during Bulldog Hour at the Brookfield High School Track. Thursday evening, at approximately 8 p.m. following the Brookfield Wrestling Meet the Brookfield High School Student Council hosted a candlelight memorial.

Patrick Lewis was born December 1, 1955, in Cincinnati, Ohio, son of Harold and Shirley Gannon. On June 14, 1980, he married Teri Greene.
Pat was a 1974 graduate of Gillman City High School and graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1978 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English. This was Pat’s 33rd year teaching and 24th in the Brookfield R-3 School District. He also had taught in the New Cambria, Warrensburg, and Oak Grove School Districts. He had taught English and Spanish and was currently teaching gifted students in the Bridges Program. Pat had coached several sports over the years and was currently the coach for the Academic Bowl. Pat lived up to the words of Winston Churchill “you make a living by what you get, you make a life by what you give.”
Survivors include his wife, Teri, of the home; five children, Jenny Thudium and husband, Nile, and Erin, Jon, Alex and Katie Swift; three grandchildren, Mason, Breckin and Piper Thudium; two brothers, Mike and Danny Swift; two sisters, Karen Wray and Linda Hinson; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and students.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
