  • The Brookfield Bulldogs wrestling team hosted Mexico and Cameron in a tri-meet late last week at the BHS gym.  The Dogs split with these Class Two teams in this marathon series of duals.
    Against Mexico, the Dogs won 41-19.  The evening started with a JV bout at 120 pounds with Blaine Sportsman winning by pinfall in 46 seconds.
    The varsity dual began at 160, with Jacob McLaughlin losing by pinfall in 1:16.  JJ Abongo won at 170 by pinfall in 1:13.  Reed McBroom won a 10-6 decision at 189.  At 195, John Furstenwerth lost a 7-4 decision.
    Trevor White won by pinfall in 1:26 at 220.  Dexter Carmichael won by pinfall in 25 seconds at heavyweight.  Both teams were open at 106.  Matt Jackman lost by a 13-3 major decision at 113.  Garrett Zahner won by pinfall in 1:03 at 120.
    At 126, Cody Niemeier won a 2-1 decision.  Gage maxwell won by pinfall in 5:46 at 132.  Anthony Cupp won by pinfall in 35 seconds at 138.  The Dogs lost in an open at 145.  Micah Blakely ended the dual with a 15-0 technical fall at 152.
    “I though we wrestled really well,” said Head Coach Ben Jackson.  “We controlled the pace of the matches.  We knew we had to be physical and aggressive with them.  We did that, and got a nice win.”
