Paddy Jane (Burkholder) King, 58, Holiday Shores, near Bismarck, died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at United Methodist Church of Bismarck, 906 Mulberry St. She chose to donate her body to Washington University to help in the fight against cancer.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the United Methodist Church, either the Bismarck or Park Hills Senior Certer, cancer research, or Bismarck School System be made.
She was born April 30, 1954, in Los Angeles, Calif. She and Gus King were married on September 9th, 1974.
She taught at Green Forest School in Green Forest, Ark., until her retirement in 2008. She was an aide at Bismarck School during her retirement. She had to quit after she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer on May 3, 2011. She was involved with area senior centers; she line danced; she volunteered to greet kids every Monday at the Bismarck School during her illness; she was active in the United Methodist Church and T.O.P.S. in Park Hills.
Survivors include her husband, Gus Lee King III, Bismarck; a son, Gus Lee King IV, Conway, Ark.; a daughter, Portia Jane King Dietrich, Oklahoma City, Okla.; a granddaughter, Kora Celeste King; and a grandson, Declan Ewan Dietrich; her mother, Paddy Burkholder, Park Hills; two brothers, Paul Burkholder, Montrose, Colo., and Robert Burkholder, Brookfield; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her step-father, Robert Burkholder.
