  •  The Brookfield Bulldogs and Lady Dogs basketball teams have been busy this season, ending their regular seasons, and heading into District Basketball.
Monday night at the District Tournament, the Dogs season ended with a 77-45 loss against the hosting team from Palmyra.  Cole Hoover had six points, Matt Neeley had 17, Tristen Duncan had 10, Ryan Kearns had two, Austin Lark had six, and Cale McCurley had four.
Last night, the Lady Dogs faced a rematch with the Macon Tigerettes. This CCC bout was a second chance for the Brookfield girls to take down an old foe.
Macon opened the game on a 7-0 run that lasted nearly the entire first quarter. The Lady Dogs would finally score on a hoop from Miranda White with less than 30 seconds remaining in the first quarter.
Maggie Almond would add a three-pointer to set pull the Brookfield girls within a bucket in the second frame. The Lady Dogs offensive struggles continued, and they would manage only seven points in the second quarter. At the half, Brookfield only had nine points on the board.
In the second half, Brookfield would remain scoreless for nearly two minutes until a free throw sailed through for Rebeca Kearns. The Lady Dogs would put up six points in the third quarter.
In the final frame, the foul trouble that had plagued Brookfield for the entire game would prove costly. This, combined with the shooting problems the team was having, meant a season-ending loss for the Brookfield Lady Dogs. The final score of this game was 50-29.
