  • Joseph Schumacher, 95, Wien, died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, at Pioneer Skilled Nursing Center, Marceline. 
    Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2013, at the St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church in Wien with Father William Korte and Father Jerry Kaimann officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery, Wien. Visitation will be held Friday, March 1 from 2 until 3:30 p.m. at Delaney Funeral Home, Marceline, with an Eagles service at 3:30 p.m. and from 10 a.m. Saturday with Rosary at the church in Wien.
    Memorials be made to the St. Mary’s cemetery and these may be left at or mailed to the funeral home at 1720 N. Missouri Ave., Marceline, Mo. 64658.
    Joe was a Veteran of the United States Army serving from 1945-1947 in the US Constabulary 6th Corp Headquarters CO. He worked for the US Postal Service in Kansas City retiring on December 31, 1972 and farmed part-time.  He was a life member of the VFW # 1471, member of the American Legion # 264, both of Marceline, life member of D.A.V. Chapter 21 at Jefferson City, Marceline Eagles Lodge since 1973, Kansas City, Missouri Branch of Railway Mail Clerks and American Postal Workers Union for 6o years, and the St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church in Wien.  He was an avid hunter, conservationist, and gardener, and raised and bred horses in his retirement years. He was always out for a good time.
    Survivors include two sisters, Sylvia Dunning, Wien, and Florence Langenderfer, Cincinnati, Ohio; 16 nieces, nephew and great nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, infant sister, brother, Robert J. Schumacher, sister Kathryn Ricciardi, nephew Gary J. Schumacher, and special friend, Charlene Frazier.
