Previously on The Face, our models went all out in Karolina's quick-change test shoot and then hit the runway in couture bridal gowns where, for some, strutting their stuff looked easier than it was. Against all odds, Team Naomi secured their second win in a row while Team Coco said goodbye to not only one, but two of their girls.
The heat was back on with only eight girls left in the competition as we started the week off with our test shoot, which was all about movement. The test shoot was appropriately coached by the legendary Coco Rocha, whose career has been defined by her ability to dance and move in every frame. Coco brought a special sidekick, the choreographer to the stars Salim Gauwloos, a.k.a. SLAM, who also worked with Coco on her Longchamps campaign. Getting your body under control at the same time as your face is easier said than done; just ask Devyn who spiraled on the sidelines waving her arms around like a bird blown in a storm. After the routine was practiced relentlessly, the girls had to pull off the moves in front of the camera, reminding everyone that the camera never lies or exaggerates, (ahem Jocelyn!)...Stephanie, on the other hand, may have a career in musicals after what we saw! Ebony, who definitely out shone the others, won the test shoot and a home gym from Mad Dog Gyms.
All this model mayhem brought us to this week's campaign, and it was a fierce one as the winner got a look book for Marshalls that will be featured on the Marshall's website and Facebook page. Celebrity stylist and Marshall's superfan, Jen Rade, was onboard to hand pick the winning look book and also give her expert opinions, despite whether the supermodel coaches appreciated or agreed with it! Team Naomi was in their usual disarray while work-shopping for the campaign, and thank the style Gods for Naomi, who came in and whipped them into shape. Team Karolina had their supermodel to thank, for giving them a sense of style with great dress choices, while Team Coco was hoping that less is more with only two left on their team.
As the campaign began, you really got to see how important movement is when bringing a photo to life, while not needing to be over the top. Obviously Jen had places to go as she put the heat under Team Coco to hurry up and pick their accessories. As we saw, the job of the model is sometimes to coddle (model's love coddling!) the client as well as work the outfit; no one said modeling was a pretty cake walk! Team Naomi was up next and Naomi reminded Sandra that she's not interested in a billion moves a second. Thank goodness as even Coco can only do 160 in a minute...During the final decision Jen Rade broke it down and was more obsessed with the photographer's lucky jump rope shot than Team Karolina's actual team... Despite being tough on Team Coco, Jen seemed to like everything about the girl's photos. Further, when she looked at Team Naomi, Jen just loved all kinds of things about Naomi's models but was not fond of a lot of the moves. Ultimately Naomi claimed her third win in a row, much to the other coach's high-heeled horror; certainly Team Karolina thought they had the win snug in their designer bag!
Once the win was announced, Sandra blared that she thought her pictures were bad and that Team Naomi had performed the worst, which only served to rub salt in the wounds of Team Karolina and Team Coco. Sandra then continued to rant on about how happy she was, even managing to irritate the slowly souring Jocelyn and normally jovial ZiLin. This display of unsportsmanlike winning somehow even touched the usually can't-lift spirits of Team Naomi. Finally, the non-U.N. sanctioned mother's league of Team Karolina had an intervention and bust in on Team Naomi only to be broken up by Naomi herself who threatened to eliminate a member of her own team first - and believe me Naomi would do it! Coco Rocha took her teams loss particularly hard and blamed herself as well as her coaching skills for their loss, putting up Stephanie for elimination a record breaking three times. Karolina threw strategy to the wind and put up Madeleine for elimination, as we know how Naomi loves a tearful model...
And then, once again, Naomi ruled supreme in the elimination room. Faced by two wet-eyed gorgeous girls she asked them if they deserved to be there. Simple enough question, common in any house of law, and Madeleine plead not guilty! Which of course only meant one thing; another team should be up for elimination... whoops that would be Team Naomi - nice one Madeleine. Stephanie plead guilty, but like a cat with nine lives, the ever forgiving Naomi granted her another pardon for her inexperience and she lived to sache for another day.
Next week on episode five of The Face, airing on Tuesday, March 12 at 9/8c on Oxygen, Amar'e Stoudemire makes an appearance in a steamy commercial shoot for Christian Louboutin shoes. And the coaches' rivalry intensifies as Karolina once again incites the wrath of Naomi.
Until next time,
