Obituary: Avis Maxine Davis

Avis Maxine Davis, 84, Harrisonville, formerly of Marceline, died Sunday, March 10, 2013, at Benchmark Healthcare of Harrisonville, Harrisonville.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 14, 2013, at the Atkinson Funeral Home, Harrisonville. Burial will be in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville.  Visitation 6-8 p.m. today, March 13, 2013 at the funeral home.

Maxine was born March 31, 1928, in Ft. Madison, Iowa, daughter of Robert and Nellie (Deye) Simpkins.

She worked as a seamstress for King Louie International. She was a member of the Happy Homemakers Ladies Club and the Red Hat Club, Bodacious Girlfriends Happy Hatters, in Harrisonville.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, John and Gwen Davis, Garden City; one granddaughter, April Dawn Lackey; nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Davis; her parents; and one daughter, Carol Sue Shepherd.
