Virginia Stanard, 95, Clinton, Miss., formerly of Brookfield, died Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at Hospice Ministries, Ridgeland.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 4, 2013, in Rose Hill Cemetery, Brookfield. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until service time Saturday at Wright-Baker-Hill Funeral Home, Brookfield.
Virginia Mae was born January 20, 1918, in Brookfield, daughter of Roy William and Hester Margaret (Davis) Decker. On June 19, 1938, she married James F. Stanard. He preceded her in death October 31, 2003.
Virginia was retired from Sears and Roebuck and upon her retirement she opened Virginia‘s Antiques, Brookfield. Virginia and Jim traveled during the winter months making their home in Lake Wales and Boynton Beach, Fla. She was Past Matron of the Eastern Star and a member of Park Baptist Church, Brookfield. She loved to cook, sew, crochet and knit. She enjoyed giving items she had made to family and friends. She was also very interested in family genealogy and painting as a past time for many years.
Survivors include one daughter, Sharon Heaney, Eureka; one son, Jim Stanard and wife, Maris, Madison, Miss.; one son-in-law, Leonard Shaul, Kansas City; five grandchildren, Scott Shaul and wife, Michelle, Las Vegas, Nev., Brian Shaul and wife, Felicia, Platt City, Michael Heaney, Ellisville, David Stanard and wife, Lisa, Madison, Miss., and Jason Stanard and wife, Robin, Brandon, Miss.; 12 great-grandchildren, Kacey and Tori Shaul, Kansas City, Ashley Shaul and Matthew Blake Shaul, Las Vegas, Nev., Meagan and Alec Heaney, Ellisville, Sydney, Will and Jake Stanard, Madison, Miss., and Shelby, Hunter and Dillon Stanard, Brandon, Miss.; and two great-great-grandchildren, Kash Shaul and Iva Kaye Miller, Kansas City.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Sandra Kay Shaul; one son-in-law, Dale Kenton Heaney; one granddaughter, Jennifer Lynn Heaney; one grandson, Gregory Daniel Stanard; one sister, Catherine Ellen (Decker) Coulter; and two brothers, Leon Matterson Decker and Roy William Decker, Jr.
