Tommy John Sturguess, 66, Rothville, died Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at Boone Hospital Center, Columbia.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 11, 2013, at Delaney Funeral Home, Marceline, with Rev. Wayne Welborn and Rev. Ken Markley officiating. Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. today, May 10, 201,3 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery, Brookfield. Pallbearers will be John Gibson, Matt Gibson, Ken Hoeg, Ray Thompson, Steven Skidmore, Carl Jones, and honorary pallbearers will be Mikeal, Jaycee, and Dylan Thompson, Tisha and Abby Skidmore, and Kaitlyn and Colton Jones.
Memorials for Tom Sturguess’s grandchildren may be left at or mailed to the funeral home at 1720 N. Missouri Ave., Marceline, Mo. 64658.
Tom was born September 22, 1946, in Baring, son of Clifford and Byrdie (Peek) Sturguess. He married Edith Emerine Jacobs on July 3, 1971.
Tom had worked as a waste water specialist at DNR, Macon. He was the pastor of his family’s nondenominational church and had been a Rothville resident the past 26 years.
Survivors include his wife, Edith Sturguess, of the home in Rothville; mother-in-law Kay Jacobs, Brookfield; three daughters, Stacey and Ray Thompson, Isis and Steven Skidmore, and Esther and Carl Jones, all of Rothville; four brothers, Jerry Sturguess, St. Catharine, Joe Sturguess and Roy Sturguess, both of Marceline, and Jim Sturguess, Booneville; two sisters, Judy Murphy, Wright City, and Sheila Finley, Moberly; seven grandchildren, Mikeal, Jaycee, and Dylan Thompson, Tisha and Abby Skidmore, and Kaitlyn and Colton Jones, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Tisha Kay; and father-in-law, Albert Jacobs.
