Frey and Matzen Crowned Champions

The final event of the 2013 Missouri State High School Activities Association season came to a close at Dwight T. Reed Stadium in Jefferson City.  The MSHSAA State Track Championships took two days in the sun to bring medals and glory to the top eight placers in each event.
The local athletes in both Class One and Two took part in this event.  The medalists in various events from Linn County are listed below.
In Class One:  Derek Wilson of Linn County (4:35.47) took fourth and Ty Stillwell of Linn County (4:38.98) took seventh in the 1600m.  The Linn County Boys 3200m Relay team, consisting of Josh Allen, Logan Brinkley, Wilson and Stillwell (8:24.90) took second place.  Wilson of Linn County (10:18.52) took third in the 3200m.
In Class Two:  Austin Moudy of Marceline (4:28.44) took sixth place in the 800m.  Brennen Floray of Marceline (15.57) took third in the 110m hurdles.  Alesa Frey of Brookfield (11’) took first place in the pole vault.  Sassie Matzen of Brookfield (5:23.59) took third in the 1600m, and took first (2:16.04) in the 800m.
Molly Shoop of Marceline (35’) took second in the triple jump.  Morgan McCormick of Marceline took third (46.48) in the 300m hurdles and seventh (16.10) in the 100m hurdles.  The Marceline Girls 1600m Relay team, consisting of McCormick, Shoop, Claire Dorrell and Kendra Gladbach (4:14.71) took seventh place.
