James Bradford “Brad” Hirsch, 48, El Sobrante, California, passed peacefully on June 2, 2013.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 8, 2013, at Delaney Funeral Home, Marceline, with Rev. Tim Mitchell officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Marceline.
Brad was born on June 16, 1964 in Decatur, Alabama, the son of the late Jean Woodrow Hirsch and the late Ernestine Lillian Hirsch.
Brad, who was born with Down Syndrome, was kind, considerate and loving to everyone he encountered, and he was treasured by his friends. For the past 12 years, Brad worked at Commercial Support Services in Richmond, California, where he performed piece work for many Bay Area businesses. Brad was proud of his work and his self-reliance.
In addition to his time in the San Francisco Bay Area, Brad lived in Marceline, Missouri and Tallahassee, Florida, where he graduated from the special education program at the Gretchen Everhart School. Brad loved classic television shows, soap operas and country music, and he was delighted to receive a call from TV star Patrick Duffy while he was ailing.
Brad is survived by his brother, William Reece Hirsch and sister-in-law, Kathryn Mary Hirsch, Walnut Creek, Calif.
