  • Becky Cleveland, PCED, Executive Director of the Brookfield Industrial Development Authority,  was named President of the Missouri Economic Development Council (MEDC) at the organization’s  Annual Conference.  As President for the coming year, Cleveland will lend her expertise in promoting entrepreneurship, regional collaboration and community-based economic development to the organization’s members and community leaders around the state.  She also will join the Missouri Partnership Board.
“It is my privilege to represent the professional economic developers around the state as we work with our communities to promote the success and growth of our existing businesses and advancing additional economic opportunity,” Cleveland commented. “Not only is Missouri a great place to live; it is a great place to do business. MEDC’s collaboration with the Missouri Partnership provides the tools needed for communities, both small and large, to promote business development and add jobs!”
Cleveland has been an active member of MEDC since 2001 and had the distinction of being named Professional Economic Developer of the Year in 2008.   In addition to her work with MEDC, she has been a member of the North Missouri Roundtable of Economic Developers and serves on the board of directors of both the Community Foundation of Northwest Missouri and the MO Highway 36 Heritage Alliance, organizations that advocate for stronger regional collaboration in promoting economic development in North Missouri.
“We look forward to Becky’s role as President of the Missouri Economic Development Council,” stated Ameren Services Director of Economic Development, Michael Kearney. “She is highly respected by fellow development professionals from across the state and brings the necessary collaboration skills to continually advance Missouri’s economic development strategies.”
Cleveland has served as the community/economic development coordinator for the City of Brookfield for the past 12 years. In 2012, following successful completion of course work and the PCED exam, Cleveland earned the designation of Professional Community and Economic Developer from the Community Development Council.
