The annual Brookfield Alumni Weekend is heading into full swing this weekend all over Brookfield. The event will be capped off with the annual Alumni Banquet, and will be highlighted by the dedication of Cochran Field.
Everything starts with the Alumni Golf Tournament on July 12 at 10 a.m. at the Brookfield Country Club. For more information, contact the BAGP office at 258-7278 or the Country Club. The cost is $20 for Club members and $40 for non-Club members.
The annual Party in the Park will take place later that evening at 6 p.m. Midlife Crisis will play in the park from 6 p.m. until Midnight. There will be class tents and food vendors present. Partygoers will also be able to register for the Alumni Association and pick up an Alumni Weekend t-shirt.
Saturday’s festivities begin at 6:30 a.m. with the Memorial 5K/10K Run/Walk. All runners start at the North Central Missouri YMCA at 7 a.m. The annual Alumni Softball Tournament begins at 8:45 a.m. at Graff Field, continuing until a winner is crowned.
The Alumni Parade will start at Noon, with lineup at 11:15 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church. The Grand Marshals will be the 2013 Hall of Fame inductees and 1970 Miss Missouri Marcia (Mossbarger) Beemer. The event will also feature class floats, the Brookfield High School Marching Blue, the BHS Cheerleaders, and the BHS Coquettes.
The dedication ceremony for Cochran Field, in honor of 2013 Hall of Fame inductee Richard (Dick) Cochran, will begin at 4:45 p.m. at the track. This caps off the rededication of all of the track facilities in honor of Brookfield’s own track Bronze Medalist.
The weekend will cap off with the annual Alumni Banquet and Dance. The banquet starts with social hour at 5 p.m. at the BHS gym, with the meal starting at 6 p.m. At the banquet, the 2013 Hall of Fame inductees will be enshrined. Also, a guest speaker has been added this year, with long-time BHS teacher Jim Hart as the first speaker. The cost for this event is $25 per person, and reservations in advance are needed for the benefit of caterer Sprague’s Locker. Call the BAGP Office at 258-7278 to make this reservation ASAP.
The dance will be at the Brookfield Elks from 9 p.m. - Midnight. Nathan Stufflebean’s Top Sound Mobile DJ Service will be providing the entertainment. No one under the age of 21 will be allowed at the Alumni Dance.
