Kate Middleton was taken to a London hospital early Monday morning and is currently in labor, according to a statement on her and Prince William's official website.
"Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge has been admitted to St. Mary's Hospital, Paddington, London in the early stages of labour," the statement reads. "The Duchess travelled by car from Kensington Palace to the Lindo Wing at St. Mary's Hospital with The Duke of Cambridge." It's the same wing where Princess Diana gave birth to Princes William and Harry.
In addition to her husband Prince William, Middleton's mother and sister Pippa are also with her in the hospital, according to reports.
The child will be third in line to the British throne, behind William and his father, Prince Charles.
A crowd of well-wishers have gathered outside of Buckingham Palace, where the baby's arrival will first be announced through a message brought out on an easel in public view. The Palace will also simultaneously send out a message via Twitter and a formal press release.
