  • If you like to make your own dowels for woodworking projects, try this tip from Club member Don Carlson of Ventura, California. Use a carpenterís pencil sharpener to chamfer the dowel ends. The sharpenerís hole will accommodate a variety of dowel sizes, and the chamfers it cuts are larger than those that a standard dowel former would create, making the dowels easier to insert.
