  •  The Brookfield R-3 School District is proud to be hosting the “Catch the BFS Be an 11 Spirit”  on Thursday, August 1, 2013 at the YMCA from 6 –9 p.m.  The ‘Bigger, Faster, Stronger’ corporation has been in the business of developing quality athletes for the past five decades. They have always produced great physical athletic skills.  Athletes who participate have seen every aspect of athleticism and skills improve.  They have an amazing track record helping student athletes take it to the next level.  Recently, they began to notice a loss of dedication and preparation to lead on the athletic side.  Every athlete wants to be a perfect ‘10’ in what they try to do.  But without the internal motivation to rise even farther for yourself, your team, and your school / community, the quality of leadership falls short.  A few years back, BFS introduced the “Be an 11” Leadership Program.
With the help of the Brookfield Lions Club, the school was able to secure a “Be an 11”program for their 7th through 12th grade students. While the program is geared toward athletes, you don’ have to be one in order to attend.  The goal is to have 100 students who really want to learn how to be strong, ethical, and quality leaders for their peers to attend.  Each attendee will get a program booklet and will work with their coaches this entire year to complete the program.  All BHS student-athletes are expected  to attend, which will leave a little extra room for some 7th and 8th graders.
Simply show up at the YMCA on Thursday evening at 6 p.m.  Come dressed to participate in some team-building activities and athletic games.  Parents are certainly welcome and invited to attend.  The first 100 spots are paid for, and there will be no charge. After the first 100 come through the door, there will be a $10 charge per student to cover the costs.
Leading the three-hour conference will be Coach Kameron Sheppard.  He’s an amazing motivator and presenter.  He’ll be joining us from South Jordan, Utah.  If you have any questions about this workshop, please call BHS Principal, Vicki Enyart at 258-7242.
