  • Verma Belle Rush age 100, passed away August 5th, 2013, at Warsaw Health and Rehabilitation Center.
    She was born on July 4, 1913 in the state of California, the daughter of Cornell and Mabel Guthrie. As a small girl she moved from California to Colorado then to Missouri. She spent most of her childhood in Kansas City Missouri. In 1930 she graduated from Westport High School.
    In March of 1931 Verma was united in marriage to George E. Leppert, into this union Patricia Ann was born.
    She was later united in marriage on March 2, 1940 to Norton Usher Rush. Claycoma Missouri is where they called home until they moved to Warsaw Missouri in 1951. They ran Rush’s R-View Convenience store for 21 years where they met many people and made lots of lifelong friends. Verma and Norton celebrated Fifty-three wonderful years together until Norton passed on June 18, 1993.
    Verma enjoyed being a Democratic Chairwomen for many years. She founded the Stepping Stone Garden Club and she loved to share her beautiful flowers and flower knowledge. She also was a very talented seamstress. She enjoyed working with children from 4-H groups to the Buddy Reading Program.
    She was also preceded in death by her parents and stepmother Lillian C. Guthrie. Two step brothers, Marion H. Lewis and Gordon A. Lewis and one step sister Dorothy E. Kellmer, and daughter Patricia Ann Tucker in 2006 and granddaughter Sandra E. Tatum in 1957.
    She is survived by her four grandchildren, Patty Tatum, Hazel, of Warsaw, MO, Shirley Tatum, White of Quinton, VA, Lori Tatum, Taylor of Linneus, MO, David Tatum and wife Teresa Tatum of Calhoun, Mo, son-in-law Les Tucker of Warsaw, MO, nephew Lawrence Kellmer of Kansas City, MO,  five great grandchildren, Christine Goodpaster and husband Leonard  of Hill City, SD, Jennifer Honea and  husband Jason of Warsaw, MO, Gale Adamczyk and  husband Eric of Richland VA , Laurel Tatum and Kimberly Taylor of Linneus, MO, six great-great grandchildren, Allison Goodpaster of Hill City, SD, Cadence Cook of Linneus, Mo, Klarissa and Karina Honea of Warsaw, Mo, Elizabeth and Miles Adamczyk of Richland VA, and many many friends.
    Memorial service will be held at the Warsaw Christian Church on August 17, 2013 at 2:00pm and visitation will follow.   Arrangements: Vansant-Mills Funeral Home, Clinton, MO 64735 660-885-2021.
