Valeta Ware, 82, Brookfield, died Monday, Sept. 2, 2013, at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, at Wright-Baker-Hill Funeral Home, Brookfield, with Rev. Philip Lyon officiating. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. today, Sept. 6, 2013, with the family will receiving friends from 6 until 8 this evening, with a Rebekah Tribute at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in Price Cemetery near Winigan.

Valeta Ruth, was born January 12, 1931, in North Salem Township in Linn County, daughter of Robert and Mable (Turner) Cattey. On April 2, 1949, she married Clyde Ware in Kirksville. He preceded her in death February 17, 2012.
Valeta was a 1948 graduate of Green City High School and in 1965 she graduated from the University of Kansas with a BS in Education. She was a middle school teacher for about 30 years and was a member of the Missouri Retired Teachers Association, Christian Church, Winigan, and attended the First Christian Church, Brookfield, after moving to Brookfield. She was active in Christian Women’s Fellowship of the church. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Winigan Quilters Club, and the Rebekah Lodge 866, Marceline, and was currently serving as State Warden.
Survivors include her children, Vicki Elliott and husband, Joseph, Macon, Linda Stecher and husband, Gary, Atchison, Kan., Sandra Ware, Bucklin, and James Ware and wife, Penny, Mount Pleasant, Mich.; grandchildren, Jared Elliott, Aaron and Cheryl Elliott, Jason Elliott, Charity and Ryan Judkins, Angel and Andrew Marsh, Rachel Elliott, John Elliott, Michael and Gina Stecher, Tony and Rinda Stecher, Sarah and Ben Helt, Nick and Charity Banko, April and Eric Fisher, Lucas Willsie, Connor Ware, and Austin Ware; great-grandchildren, Justin Elliott, Daniel Elliott, Skye Elliott, Alyssha Elliott, Hailey Elliott, Seth Elliott, Samuel Elliott, Emily Elliott, Jada Campbell, Rockland Campbell, Jameson Judkins, Donovan Fleming, Aiden Stecher, Talon Stecher, Jackson Stecher, Brody Helt, Ava Helt, and Juliette Banko; and her sister, Marilyn Dowell, Bucklin.
