  • Late Tuesday evening, a Marceline woman was forced out of her home by an intruder who was allegedly brandishing a knife.
The Marceline Police Dept. reports that Tuesday at 11:57 p.m., officers responded to a report of a burglary in progress at a residence in the 100 block of West Ira Street.
The 25-year-old female resident advised police that a man known to her, 24-year-old Ronald E. Lemmond of Marceline, had entered her home through a window and threatened her with a knife.
When officers arrived on the scene, Lemmond, who was still in the residence, was placed under arrest.
Yesterday, when Lemmond appeared before Judge James P. Willams in Linn County Associate Circuit Court on charges of 1st Degree Burglary and Unlawful Use of a Weapon, he waived arraignment.
Lemmond is being held in the Chariton County Jail in lieu of posting a cash-only bond of $50,000. His next hearing will be next Thursday, and he has been assigned a public defender.
