The Marceline Tigers celebrated an accomplished senior class this past Friday at Chester Ray Stadium with a Senior Night blowout of Lewis and Clark Conference foes Slater. The Tigers decimated their foes on both sides of the ball in the opening frame, scoring the entirety of their points in the first quarter.

Slater deferred the opening kickoff, and attempted an onside kick. A first down penalty against Marceline would prove to be one of the only negative plays of the night for the Tigers. Two runs from Blake Belzer and one from Dakota Lewis would move Marceline deep into Slater territory. Belzer would score the game's opening touchdown on a 35-yard run. Isaac Smith added the point-after.

Slater went three-and-out on their opening drive, even attempting a fake punt. A timely tackle from Dan Corbin turned the ball back over to Marceline at the Slater 37. Blake Linebaugh found Jared Best for the 37-yard touchdown strike in one play. Smith added the point-after.

Marceline gave the Wildcats a little of their own medicine, with an onside kick. Corbin recovered the ball at the Wildcats 28. Belzer again used one play to find the end zone. The extra point was no good.

Slater again went three-and-out on their next drive. Lewis was tackled on the punt return at the Slater 44. On the first play of the drive, Lewis finished what he started, by going 44-yards for the next touchdown. The conversion pass was incomplete.

Slater again went three-and-out, with their punt going straight in the air, and being downed a mere six yards from the original line of scrimmage. Runs from Belzer and Linebaugh set up a 19-yard touchdown run by Belzer. Smith added the point-after.

Slater had an early run stuffed by Belzer. A play later, Linebaugh picked off an errant pass at the 30, and took it to the house for a pick six. Smith added the point-after.

Slater again went three-and-out. Tackles for a loss came from Lewis and Smith. The pigskin was turned over to Marceline on the Slater 33 after an incompletion on fourth down. Belzer used one play to take it to the house for the game's final score. Smith added the last point of the night.

The varsity defense got one or two more series in the second quarter. They had some good stops by Anthony Steffes, Trey King, Dalton Fisher, Bryce Jobson, and Dylon Ewigman.
The remainder of the contest, offensively, was played by the Tigers JV. Quarterback Andrew Edgar guided the next generation of Tigers down the field. Runs came from Alex Cupp, Nate Florine, and Cory Hilsabeck.
In the second half, the Tigers starters were done, and the JV defense completed pitching the shutout. Tackles were made by Dylan Wheeler, Jordan Elam, Cade Ewigman, Bo Hustead, and Nick Lodder. Frankie Herring even snagged an interception.
In the end, the Marceline Tigers capitalized on a very strong start to win this game in an utter blowout.
