Jessie Sappington, 94, Bucklin, peacefully went to be with her Lord Monday morning, October 28, 2013 at her home. She got up, put on her robe, sat down in her favorite chair, and slipped into God’s arms.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013, at Bucklin Christian Church with Rev. Tim Mitchell officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 p.m. today, Oct. 30, 2013, at the church in Bucklin. Burial will be in the New Boston Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her 12 grandchildren.

Jessie was born February 13, 1919, in North Salem Township, Linn County, Missouri daughter of Oral Allen and Mina Lillian (Cattey) Carter. She and Emmett Sappington were married April 25, 1942 in Kirksville. He preceded her in death September 22, 1961.
She lived most of her life in Linn and Macon Counties graduating from Bucklin High School. She attended Teachers College of Kirksville and taught in several small one room schools in Linn County and surrounding counties retiring in Bucklin R-II. She was a member of the Bucklin Christian Church since 1964, an elder emeritus and Sunday school teacher over for 70 years. She was honored as Bucklin Homecoming Grand Marshal in 2012, loved spending time in her yard taking care of her flowers and garden and was known throughout the area as a full time Prayer Warrior.
Survivors include five children, Howard Sappington and wife, Sandra, Chillicothe, Belita Amen and husband, Garry, New Boston, Carter Sappington and wife, Desiree, Brookfield, Kenneth and wife, Mary Jo Sappington, Bucklin, and Joy Main and husband, Tom, Ft. Madison, Iowa; 12 grandchildren, Lisa Rule, Lacey Morrill, Robert, Becky and Craig Amen, Kristi and Taylor Sappington, Eric and Scott Sappington, Amber Wood, Betsy Hayes, and Travis Main; 27 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Mildred Renoe, Huntsville, Ala.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother Verl; and a sister Frances Jacobs.
