Joan Foster, 73, Sumner, died Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013, at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013, at Sumner United Methodist Church, Sumner, with Rev. Martha Truax and Gail Brown officiating. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013, at Wright-Baker-Hill Funeral Home, Brookfield, with the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 in that evening at the church in Sumner. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Sumner.
Memorials to the American Diabetes Association may be left at the church or mailed to the funeral home, P.O. Box 496, Brookfield, MO 64628.
Joan Loraine was born June 9, 1940, in Rock Island, Ill., daughter of Vivian and Velda (Lanham) Emrich. On March 20, 1959, she married Jerrold K. Foster.
Joan graduated from Northwestern High Schoo, Mendon. She and her husband, Jerrold, owned and operated Foster Plumbing & Heating, Sumner. She worked as an Administrative Assistant at Swan Lake Refuge during the 1960’s, 1970’s and 1980’s. She also worked as a cook at Foster’s Sportsman Inn. She was a member of the Sumner United Methodist Church where she had taught Sunday School. She was a founding member of XI Theta Lambda and also served as a 4-H Leader.
Survivors include her husband, Jerrold of the home; two daughters, Kim L. Reigelsberger and husband, Eugene, Indian Grove, and Kelly H. Lynn and husband, Jonathan, Bolivar; one son, Kenny Foster, Sumner; six grandchildren, Gina Reid and husband, Dr. Tim, Jacob Reigelsberger and wife, Amanda, John Reigelsberger, Kendra Foster, A.J. Lynn and Ashton Lynn; six great-grandchildren, Gwen Reid, Gabe Reid, Archer Reigelsberger, Brant Reigelsberger, Evie Reigelsberger, and Braydin Foster; and two sisters, Marcia A. Ronnebaum and husband, Don, Independence and Terri L. Hart and husband, Kevin, Mendon.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
