James William “J.W.” Dorrell, 93, Marceline, died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, at Pioneer Skilled Nursing Center, Marceline.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. today, Nov. 6, 2013, at Delaney Funeral Home, Marceline, with Mary Ellen Waychoff officiating. Visitation will be held was held from 11 a.m. today until time of services at the funeral home. Burial was in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Marceline. Pallbearers were be Mitchell Calvert, Allen Souther, Vince Matlick, Jim Carriker, Tell Campbell, and Tyler Souther. Honorary pallbearer was James Dorrell.
Memorial to the Food Pantry in Marceline may be left at or mailed to the funeral home, 1720 N. Missouri Ave., Marceline, MO 64658.
J.W. was born October 17, 1920, in Rothville, son of Joseph Ervin and Lucille Pearl (Lake) Dorrell. He married Jewell Chrisman on July 20, 1943, in Marceline. She preceded him in death in 1992.
J.W. had worked as the head of maintenance at the Marceline R-5 High School.
Survivors include one son, Dennis Dorrell, Ft. Madison, Iowa; two daughters, Charlotte Elliott, New Cambria, and Sharon Cavins, Branson; eight grandchildren, Lori Souther, Wendie Matlick, Angie Carriker, Grant Cavins, Mitchell Calvert, Kimberlee Richardson, Dustin Dorrell, and Stacy Rudd; 15 great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Clarence and Leland; and three sisters, Doris Yarbrough, Norma Wessels and Eileen Bishop.
