Marjorie Kathyn Meissen, 78, of the Wien community, died Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013, at Chariton Park Nursing Home, Salisbury.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m. today, Dec. 27, 2013, at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church, Wien, with Father Gregory Tigga officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery, Wien. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013, with the rosary at 7:30 p.m. at the church in Wien. Memorials be made to St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church may be left at or mailed to the funeral home at 1720 N. Missouri Ave., Marceline, MO 64658.
Marjorie was born October 7, 1935, daughter of Charles B. Schreiner and Mary Agnes Schaefer. On June 1, 1957, she married Joseph Meissen at Immaculate Conception Church, Brookfield.
She taught school in Atchison, Kan. Marjorie was a housewife and mother to their eight children on their farm in Wien. She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Sodality of the St. Mary’s Church as well as a former organist of Immaculate Conception Church, Brookfield, and at the church in Wien.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph; children and spouses, Marilyn and Jim Stanley, Auxvasse, Donald and Christina Meissen, New Cambria, Charles and Nancy Meissen, Bethany, Stephen and Connie Meissen, New Cambria, Suzanne and Mark Schuchmann, Brunswick, Laura Meissen, Columbia, Julie and Darren Boss, Shawnee, KS, and Diane and Sean Thoe, Parkville; 18 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by parents and one sister, Marilyn Schreiner.
