Richard Dowell Fouts, 59, Clearwater, Fla., passed away April 24, 2014, at his home.
Born to Nelda J. Fouts and Richard K. Fouts on January 30, 1955, at Lowery Air Force Base, Denver, Colo. Rick grew up in Denver, Colo., Chaumont, France, Shreveport, La., Bermuda, and Browning, Mo. He was a 1973 graduate of Linn County R-1 High School, browning, and attended Platt College, St. Joseph.
During his high school years, Rick earned a reputation of an exceptionally hard worker, sacrificing his time with friends and sports, and all extra curricular activities to help support his family by working before and after school, weekends and summers at Dave‘s Garage, Browning.
Following his attendance at Platt College, Rick lived in San Diego, Calif., and New Haven, Conn., and over the last 29 years resided in Clearwater, Fla., where he played guitar with bands in the Tampa/Clearwater/St. Petersburg area. He also worked in landscaping and frame-making. Rick was a talented musician and enjoyed writing song lyrics and poetry in his leisure time. Also skilled in the art of calligraphy and graphics design, many local businesses employed his services throughout the years. Rick was known for his compassion in helping to facilitate fundraising drives to help critically ill members of his community.
Rick is survived by one son, Zacheriah Fouts, and wife, Kara, Kirksville; three grandchildren, Paishynce, Jeff and Kaylee; three sisters, Lana Linebaugh, Tampa, Fla., Janell Keithley, and husband, Terry, Browning, and Jody Thurlo, and fiance, Terry Tarpening, Brookfield; one brother, Kristopher Fouts, and wife, Robin, Tampa, Fla.; three nephews; one niece; four great-nieces; two great-nephews; and one great-great-nephew on the way.
Rick will be deeply missed by many friends and family, especially his sisters, Lana and Janell, and his dear friend, Elizabeth, for his kind, considerate, thoughtful and mannerly nature.
Graveside services will be held at a later date in Locus Valley Cemetery, west of Browning. The family requests donations be made to Locus Valley Cemetery Fund.
