  • Cora Lee Ford, 91, Browning, died Thursday, June 5, 2014, at Life Care Center of Brookfield.
    Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 8, 2014, at Browning United Methodist Church with Rev. Sue Lambert officiating. Music was provided by Linda Long, David Long and Julie McArtor. Burial was in Oakwood Cemeterey, Milan. Pallbearers were Kirk Campbell, Kent Campbell, Ryan Ford, Scott Ford, Chad Gooch and Jack Green.
    Memorials to Linn County R-1 Library or American Legion Auxiliary Unit 274 may be left at or mailed to Ruschmeier Funeral Home, Milan.
    Mrs. Ford was born September 25, 1922, in Browning, daughter of Roy and Cora Mae (Bundies) Haley. On March 16, 1941, in Unionville, she married C. Seldon Ford. He preceded her in death June 26, 1966.
    Cora worked and then owned and operated Browning Dry Goods Store for over 30 years. She was a caring babysitter for many years, and she worked in Linn County R-1 Library and also ran the farm and raised cows. She loved playing piano, and liked to sew, crochet, quilt, and put puzzles together. She was a member of Browning Church of Christ, Claude Meyers Unit 274, where she had held all the offices of the Unit and at the District level during her 44 years of service, including President of the Rose Salon 366 of 8/40.
    Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Dorotha Lee Campbell, Independence, Marjorie and Max Gooch, Browning, and Mary and Larry Baker, Taylor; grandchildren, Kirk Campbell and wife, Renee, Kent Campbell, Regina Boyce and husband, Tony, Ryan Ford and wife, Tammy, Scott Ford and wife, Tina, Sherry Parkhurt and husband, Terry, Sara Kinkead and husband, Tim, Christina Moore, Carie McMullin, Chad Gooch and wife, Christie, and Jack Green, who she loved as her own; 20 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Lester Ford; a son-in-law, David Campbell; brothers, George, Junior and Donald Haley; and sisters, Geneva Lay and Evelyn Dearing.
