  • The Riner Lumber Company of Kansas City has sold the Linn County Lumber Company in Marceline to the Meyer Brothers Lumber Company of Mission, Kan., and possession is being given this week. William Humbird will remain as manager of the yard in Marceline. The lumber company was started at its present location on East Howell Street in 1888 under the name of W.A. Cannon Lumber Company. In 1902, W.E. Thomas purchased the lumber yard and the name was changed to W.E. Thomas Lumber Company. In 1912, the name was changed again when T.I. Bennett bought the business and Mr. Sheehan became manager of Bennett Lumber Company. In 1921, the yard was purchased by Riner Lumber Company and the named was changed to Linn County Lumber Company. I.F. Litchy was the first manager and hew was followed by Gail Hamilton, O.W. Hetrick, E.B. Hendricks, Eddie Lehnhoff, Edward H. Hall and then the present manager William C. Humbird.
