  • Lena Cooper, 95, Brookfield, died Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at The Baptist Home, Chillicothe.
    Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 5, 2014, at Wright-Baker-Hill Funeral Home, Brookfield, with Rev. Richard Hurtgen officiating. The family will received friends from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday. Burial was in Parklawn Cemetery, Brookfield.

    Lena Lucretia, was born December 23, 1918, in Eversonville, daughter of William and Hester (Stevenson) DeVaul. On May 24, 1934, she married Walter William Cooper, He preceded her in death December 11, 1995.
    Lena was a member of the Park Baptist Church, Brookfield, and Sunday School. She was also a member of the Burlington Northern Ladies Auxiliary.
    Survivors include two daughters, Pat Ricket, Strafford, and Deloris Schafroth and husband, Don, Momence, Ill.; four grandchildren, Teresa Doss and husband, Kenny, Brookfield, Mike Ricket and wife, Anna, Leawood, Kan., Mark Ricket and wife, Sherry, Strafford; and Kenny Holman and wife, Crystal, Braidwood, Ill.; great-grandchildren, Ashley Baird and husband, Patrick, Dane Ricket, Bradley Ricket and wife, Alison, Riley Ricket, Dakota Ricket, Dylan Hayes and Dustin Hayes, and Kenny Lee and Heather Holman; great great-grandchildren, Lillyan Ricket and Ainsley Ricket; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
    She was also preceded in death by an infant son, Richard Ray Cooper; three brothers, Lester Ray DeVaul, James Robert DeVaul, and Richard Lee DeVaul; and four sisters, Anna Mae Shiflett, Mary Louise Shiflett, Clara Ruth Haynes, and Lula Maud Hastings.
