  • Marjorie Jean Moore Davis passed away at the age of 89 on July 2, 2014 at the Loch Haven Nursing Home in Macon.

  • Marjorie Jean Moore Davis passed away at the age of 89 on July 2, 2014 at the Loch Haven Nursing Home in Macon.
    A memorial service will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at the United Church of New Cambria with Mary Ellen Waychoff officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time.  Burial will be in the New Cambria Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society or the United Church of New Cambria and these may be left at or mailed to Delaney Funeral Home 1720 N. Missouri, Marceline, MO 64658.
    Marjorie was born on March 27, 1925 to William and Jenny (Andrews) Moore near Excello, Missouri.  She attended the McClainsville country school and Macon High School graduating in 1941 and was a 1943 graduate of the NE Missouri State Teachers College in Kirksville, Missouri.  She taught elementary school in Callao and New Cambria.  Marjorie married Roland Leslie Davis on May 30, 1948 at the Mt. Salem Baptist Church near Excello.  She devoted the rest of her life to being a farmer’s wife and mother to Gene and Melissa.  Marjorie was an excellent seamstress and knitter, avid reader, genealogist, gardener of vegetables and flowers, and enjoyed traveling and attending the theatre.  She was a member of the United Church of New Cambria and the Missionary Society.
    She is survived by her son Roland Gene Davis of New Cambria; daughter Melissa Davis Hogenson and husband Jim of Ethel; two granddaughters, Jill Hogenson Fannin and her husband Travis of Rogersville; and Samantha Hogenson of Arlington, VA; two great grandsons, Jackson and Spencer Fannin and many cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and daughter-in-law Kris Davis.
