  • Effie Jean Cassity, age 90, of Excelsior Springs, formerly of Brookfield, died Monday, August 18, 2014, at Excelsior Springs Nursing and Rehab in Excelsior Springs.

  • Effie Jean Cassity, age 90, of Excelsior Springs, formerly of Brookfield, died Monday, August 18, 2014, at Excelsior Springs Nursing and Rehab in Excelsior Springs.
    Funeral services will be Friday, August 22, 2014, at 1 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church in Brookfield with Rev. Mike White officiating.  Visitation will begin Thursday, Aug. 21, 2014, at 1 p.m. at Wright-Baker-Hill Funeral Home, Brookfield, with the family receiving friends from 6 until 8 that evening. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Brookfield.
    Memorials to Trinity United Methodist Church may be left at or mailed to the funeral home, PO Box 496, Brookfield, MO 64628.
    Effie Jean, daughter of Walter and Floella (Redding) Campfield, was born November 25, 1923, in Brookfield. On December 31, 1941, she married Virgil Cassity. He preceded her in death April 25, 2013.
    Effie Jean was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Brookfield and the United Methodist Women.
    Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Van Liere and husband, Charles of Union and Donna Simmons and husband, John of Kearney; three grandchildren, Sarah Seeck and husband, Brian, Julie Spalding and husband, Pat, and Jasen Simmons; and seven great-grandchildren, Logan, Madison and Brady Seeck, Ellie and Lucas Spalding, and Aspen and Jewell Simmons.
    She was also preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Janet Lee Cassity.
