The Brookfield Bulldogs hosted former Tri-Rivers and current Clarence Cannon Conference foe Clark County Friday night in the team’s final home games of the season. While the seniors were recognized on Tuesday night, this game was their curtain call.
After the game, Head Coach Mike Severa reflected on the career of his lone senior. “It‘s amazing her development in the system,” said Coach Severa. “This is how development is supposed to go. She played JV as a freshman, split time as a sophomore between JV and Varsity, and played Varsity the past two seasons.”
Severa continued: “She has scored a lot of points for us, and is 116-157 from the free throw line this season...that’s impressive! That is how you are supposed to develop as a player. She now has 309 points this season.”
Head Coach Ronnie Sharp looked back at his four seniors after the game. “Andrew Baum is our captain and a three-year starter,” said Coach Sharp. “He is a hard worker in practice and games, and gives it all he has.”
Sharp continued: “Justin Dickson is our best defensive player and has been a great addition this year. He has proven himself to be a very valuable player to our team, and has a great attitude. Josh Torrez is a very good defensive guard. At only 5’9”, he is one of our most aggressive and better rebounders. Micah Mendenhall is a first year player and has shown great improvement this season. He has a positive attitude, and is a team player who wanted to help in any way he could.”
