The Fourth of July celebrations bring warm weather and are full of family events that create great memories. Locally, with multiple fireworks stands in the area, there is a plethora of noisy and fun fireworks to be had. Within Linn County, each town has their own directives regarding the discharge of fireworks.
The discharge of fireworks within Brookfield city limits begins at 6:00 a.m. July 3 and ends at Noon July 5. Marceline’s fireworks discharge within city limits is from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. on July 1 through July 3...July 4 hours are 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. July 5. You may discharge fireworks within Bucklin city limits, which began June 27 through July 5. Within Laclede city limits, the start of fireworks begins at 12:01 a.m. July 3 and ending at 11:59 p.m. July 5.
To keep the Fourth safe and happy, here are a few safety reminders for the entire family:
—Fireworks are not toys;
—Never try to make your own fireworks;
—Always use fireworks outside and have a bucket of water ready and a hose nearby in case of accidents or any sparks or flame that may occur when using fireworks;
—Steer clear of others...fireworks have been known to backfire or shoot off in the wrong directions. Never throw or point fireworks at someone and it’s best to wear eye protection while shooting fireworks;
