Leo Francis Lauhoff, age 87 of Ft. Madison, Iowa died March 15, 2017 at his home. He had lived in the Mendon area for 86 years before moving to Iowa. He was born November 10, 1929 to Leo P. and Anna (Moser) Lauhoff. He married Charlotte Truesdell June 4, 1953.
Leo was a veteran, serving in the US Marines from 1951-1953. He was a farmer, mechanic and dozer operator, a lifelong member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in rural Mendon and the Sumner post of the American Legion. He was a people person and never met a stranger. He especially enjoyed big dinners and fish fries with lots of people around. He collected antique gas and diesel engines and spent many summer weekends at flywheel engine shows camping, visiting and showing his engines.
He is survived by his wife Charlotte, of the home, one daughter Jeanette Garr and husband Dick, West Point, IA; daughter-in-law Lisa Lauhoff, Cameron, MO; grandchildren Amanda O’Tool and husband Mike, Aaron Garr and fiancé Aleena Becker, all of West Point, IA; Joshua Garr , Burlington, IA; Alex Garr and fiancé Ashley Osborn, Overland Park, KS; Carly Landis and husband Jacob, Camdenton, MO; and Dustin Lauhoff and wife Crystal, Schobaire, NY; great grandchildren Tyler O’Tool, Regan Garr, Kyra Garr, Megan Roxberg, Natalie Landis, and Jude Landis. He is also survived by two brothers, John Lauhoff and wife Sue, Milford, TX; and Kenneth Lauhoff and wife Brenda, Chillicothe, MO; sisters-in-law Josephine Lauhoff and Gloria Lauhoff, and brother-in-law Bob Brockman and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Barry on February 27, 2016, two brothers, Gilbert Lauhoff and Bernard (B.J.) Lauhoff and sister Loretta Brockman.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 AM Monday, March 20, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in rural Mendon, burial with Military Honors in the St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM Sunday, March 19, 2017 at Delaney Funeral Home in Marceline with Rosary at 4:30 PM. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or the St. Joseph Cemetery and these may be mailed to 1720 N. Missouri Ave. Marceline, MO 64658.
Roxanne Drescher, age 67, of Brookfield, died Friday, March 17, 2017, at her home. Funeral services are pending at Wright-Baker-Hill Funeral Home in Brookfield.
