Moberly officials had, for the time being, set a proposal for changes to Moberly's trash pickup procedures by the curb, according to an article on the front page of The Moberly Monitor-Index on this day one year ago.
The article noted that officials defused tension at a Moberly City Council meeting where several residents had shown up to speak out against a proposed roll-away trash bin system that would have increased costs. Moberly's city manager said at the meeting that the city did not plan to move forward with the proposal at that time.
In other news at the same council meeting, Moberly City Council members voted to approve an ordinance that would update Moberly's city code to address nuisances, according to a March 23, 2016, front-page article.
The change came in response to an incident in Moberly involving hazardous materials that required a controlled detonation by law enforcement officials.
