Members of many local churches gathered together at the Church of the Nazarene in Neosho on Good Friday to participate in the annual Cross Walk, a journey carrying three crosses on a journey down Neosho Boulevard and back to the church.
Father Derek Swanson, pastor at St. Canera Church in Neosho and one of many ministers involved, said, “It’s a way to bring churches together in the spirit of Good Friday as participated follow the steps of Christ to Calvary.”
Eight stations commemorated Jesus’ final journey, four on each side of the boulevard.  A large cross flanked by two smaller crosses, led the procession and various participants carried the crosses.  At each station, the group paused for prayers in both English and Spanish.  A number of area residents followed behind the crosses.  Many different people took up a cross during the walk, providing everyone who wished to carry a cross the opportunity to do so.
The annual event is a way for Christians to share the passion, death and resurrection of Christ with the community.  It is sponsored each year by the Neosho Area Coalition.
