Administrators at Blue Springs South High School are investigating a racist act directed at a bi-racial female student.
School officials say the student found a racial slur scrawled on an assignment paper when she returned to the physics lab Wednesday. The student had left the assignment in an unlocked lab drawer the day before.
Multiple administrators have spent several hours interviewing students, faculty and staff to try to figure out who wrote the racial slur, district spokesperson Katie Woolf said. The school believes the incident was isolated and the student did not fabricate the paper.
The incident marked the second racist act noted this week in Blue Springs. Also on Wednesday, a barber shop owner found a racial slur painted in black across his shop windows.
